Tips with Tips: Basic Cake Decorating

This Class is being offered virtually. 

Before people find out how good our cakes taste, they comment on how good they look. Decorating might be the most fun part of cake making and it’s your chance to really put your personal touch on your dessert. In this two-day class*, learn the basics for making, icing, and decorating a cake. On Day One, we'll make our buttermilk cake with Swiss buttercream icing and talk about different filling options as well. On Day Two, we'll fill, crumb coat, and ice the cakes we made. We'll spend time practicing with different piping tips to make shells, rosettes, vines, leaves, and letters on a cake or any dessert. Practice makes perfect, so you'll get plenty of that. Finally, you'll have time to let your creativity flow as you put all that practice to work by decorating your cake. 

You'll leave the BAKE! class with our recipes; the knowledge to make, ice, and decorate cakes at home; and the cake you made and decorated in class. 

* Please note that this class takes place over two consecutive days. To make the buttermilk cake and Swiss buttercream icing on Day One, you’ll need a stand mixer with paddle and whip attachments or a hand-held mixer.
