In spite of its name, Boston Cream Pie is actually a layer cake. It also happens to be the official dessert of the state of Massachusetts. The Bakehouse’s take on this American classic consists of two layers of moist vanilla chiffon cake (a light sponge cake made with meringue), filled with vanilla bean pastry cream, covered in a thin layer of vanilla Swiss buttercream, and glazed in rich dark chocolate ganache. It's been a wildly popular addition to the Bakehouse’s cake menu, having never gone “on vacation” since its debut.
In this class, we’ll teach you how to make all the components of our Boston Cream Pie, plus several valuable baking techniques along the way: vanilla chiffon cake, brushed with simple syrup; vanilla bean pastry cream; vanilla Swiss buttercream; and dark chocolate ganache. These are wonderful base pastry recipes that can be used in many other applications as well, so they'll be great to add to your repertoire! We’ll then assemble all the components together to make a delicious dessert that will be a welcome addition to family dinners, birthdays, and holidays.

My Weigh Kitchen Scale
